However, I’ve used TurboTax for years, and TaxCut software just didn’t fit what we needed for the difference in price. I purchased the downloadable TurboTax software and decided I’d utilize the suggestions already posted by other consumers in their reviews if I had problems. This software downloaded, installed & updated without a hitch! It’s open in the background as I’m writing this & has imported last year’s information successfully. Just thought I’d add my input as I had no problems whatsoever with XP-Pro SP3. :) I’m happy! I was intrepid after reading the problems with XP-Pro installation. I've compared Tax Cut to Turbotax and believe Turbotax (at least through 2008 tax year) is superior, if you use Quicken software and have depreciation schedules, as I do. That's OK, but in early January when it became available the download section of TurboTax insisted on charging me for the state return. After a call to their support I was given a "free" state download -- and then it turned out that the state return STILL wasn't ready even though the download page didn't report it. Frustrating (and a crummy job of rolling out updates!) but tolerable. Then the fun began. I have a decent sized Federal refund coming, so I wanted to E-File. It was rejected with an error that said something about vehicles claimed on Schedule C. Guess what? I didn't have a Schedule C!! I re-started the return and re-entered all of my data to be sure. When that was also rejected I called TT support and spent over an hour talking with a well-meaning young lady who was obviously very frustrated that she was unable to get a resolution to what must have been a software problem in TT. We never got a resolution and I had to get off of the phone, so I just gave up and copied the info from my TT forms into the fee efile at [...] Next year will be time to try someone other than TT unless Intuit can come up with some scheme to get their long-suffering customers a reason to believe in them.
